Job Description: Maintenance mechanics 1 performs preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. They check system functionality by running diagnostic tests and use power and hand tools to install new systems and replace defective parts. MM – 1 will install, changeover, maintain, and repair plant equipment (either processing, packaging, or support equipment) to optimize safety, quality and productivity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform regular and preventive maintenance on equipment to eliminate unscheduled downtime.
Perform changeovers in an efficient and timely manner.
Detect malfunctions through observation (sound or visual).
Run diagnostic tests to ensure system functionality.
Perform emergency repairs.
Choose appropriate materials based on mechanical needs.
Align and calibrate machine parts.
Fabricate materials or rebuild parts to maintain and upgrade equipment as required.
Take corrective action as required by initiated work orders through the Proteus System or as circumstances dictate and write new work orders to account for unplanned corrective maintenance time.
Interpret basic blueprints, schematics, and exploded parts diagrams.
Initiate purchase of required parts, and materials to support asset care program.
Use proper lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot works permits to maintain a safe environment and comply with EHS regulatory procedures.
Make recommendations for equipment upgrades and modifications, as well as mechanical safety procedures.

Notify Supervisor of mechanical breakdowns that will take ten (10) minutes or more to repair.

Job Description: Maintenance mechanics 1 performs preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
